OPEN HOUSE.
New York: Knopf, 1941.
1st edition, limited (1/1000) numbered, full blue cloth, with dust jacket. Roethke's first solo book publication, specially inscribed to family members, and signed by Roethke in his characteristic green fountain pen ink on the FEP. The inscription is to his cousins on his mother's side, Nora and Charles Huebner. The present copy is hand numbered "891" on the colophon page. The book has internal browning evidence from newspaper clippings, else fine and with very little wear. The dust jacket is not price clipped, but with edge chipping. Roethke won the Pulitzer Prize for poetry in 1954 and the National Book Award in 1959. Uncommon in the potentially fragile jacket, and especially so signed with family association. Item #7066
Price: $800.00
