Mt. Horeb: Perishable Press, 1973.
1st edition, limited (1/120) press numbered and signed, decorated boards (as issued). In addition to Stafford's signature, the present copy has been specially inscribed and signed by the illustrator. Illustrated with drawings by Michigan artist and printer, Ann Mikolowski (1940-1999), of the Alternative Press. Mikolowski used her illustration of Virginia mountains for the covers of this book. She inscribed the book "12.73 / for Snee and Anne -- / -- yr mountains -- / Love -- Ann" on the colophon page. The inscribee, Snee, is author Donald McCaig who lived with Anne in these very mountains. Snee and Anne were personal friends of Mikolowski. Oblong binding (overall size: 10.75 inches high x 5.5 inches wide.) As the colophon notes (in part): "we first got hold of this funny botanical drying paper on a lark being impressed that it was/is used my many world-famous herbariums." Overall gentle wear and aging to the rugged, illustrated and decorated boards, else a fine association copy of a very scarce Stafford publication. Item #6607
