Santa Barbara: Black Sparrow Press, 1980.
1st edition, blue cloth spine, illustrated boards, with publisher's acetate jacket (as issued). The present offering is a presentation copy, inscribed "For Judy Minty -- / in friendship and in poetry" and signed by Wakoski using her trademark flower illustration. The text of this volume of 44 poems includes "Looking for the King of Spain & Pachelbel's Canon" (as specially noted on the title page). Laid in to this volume is a brief yet revealing letter from Wakoski to Minty, expressing the genesis of the poem "Directions" (pp. 64-65) and the author's feelings of "how much I hated homosexuality". The speaker in the poem "Directions" makes reference to the names "Diane" and "Judy" in the text of the poem. Minimal shelf wear to acetate jacket, else fine. Item #6379
