The first appearance of Millay's "Figs from Thistles" sequence, which includes her famous "First Fig" poem, with the opening line "My candle burns at both ends." The poem later appeared in A FEW FIGS FROM THISTLES (New York: Frank Shay, 1920). Published by Harriet Monroe as Vol XII, No III, the present copy shows only minimal wear, including paper chips along spine and evidence of prior folds to covers, else fine.
